Since its establishment in 1967, the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA) has been dedicated to preventing health risks, including gambling addiction, and promoting healthy lifestyles. Their initiatives aim to educate the public about the dangers of addictive behaviors and the importance of maintaining a balanced and healthy life.
One particularly creative idea was inspired by the "Pinocchio" fairy tale. In this story, the puppet Pinocchio's nose grows longer every time he tells a lie. This metaphor perfectly captures the situation of a person who denies their gambling addiction. Just like Pinocchio, individuals who are addicted to gambling often deceive themselves and others about the extent of their problem. Acknowledging the issue is the first step towards recovery and addressing the addiction effectively.
The BZgA uses this familiar tale to communicate the importance of honesty and self-awareness in overcoming addiction and leading a healthier life.
